Carousel

December 11th, 2009

The buzz: Sandwiched between Baby Buddha, GEM and Oyster is the newest addition to the Wo On watering holes.

The décor: It’s a casual bar with a carnivalesque theme, and bigger tables and bar stools than most joints. A quaint little toy carousel sits on the red bar top, and pretty ponies painted by local artist Mr. Yeung adorn the walls. The open doors give it a neighborhood street feel, especially when the weekend revelers spill out onto the Lane.

The music: Soft rock and “shalala” from the juke box.

The drinks: They serve a fine Ricard, and claim to make the best mojitos on the street. And they’ve got Hoegaarden, Stella Artois and the rare Becks on draught for the lager-lovers.

The crowd: Regulars are the French from Le Jardin and curious passers-by on foot from LKF to Yumla.

Why you’ll be back: For that casual, quiet happy hour, or that insane weekend carnival on the street.
