Cold Comfort

Cold Comfort

November 17th, 2006

As the outside temperature drops to the low 20s (finally matching the temperature indoors), everyone around town is starting to feel the shivers. But until the TVB camera crew heads to the New Territories mountains to film the annual wisp of frost that finally signals winter's arrival, what are the other signs that things are getting colder?

Around Town

• Canadian Chinese walking around all cocky
• Government has introduced public service ads: "It is cold now."
• Taxi drivers consider turning off air con, but don't
• Donald Tsang's nipples sticking out

At Home

• You re-feng shui your house around your crappy space heater
• Lounge clothes now consist entirely of long underwear with trap-door bottom
• Stop showering until March
• Full-body medicated analgesic poultice

In the Office

• "It's cold out there, huh?" becomes new meaningless way to converse with colleagues you dislike
• Office ladies color-coordinating office scarves with everyday office cardigans
• You're drinking three times as much whiskey during bathroom breaks
• Boss already rejected plea for Tiny Tim's operation
