Every Friday afternoon, an e-mail pops up in HK Magazine’s inbox with the subject line “Where to brunch on Sunday?”

Well, how about the new Brunchtail at Cucina? The full brunch buffet ($388 with two glasses of Veuve Clicquot) includes all the usual suspects: a seafood platter, charcuterie and grilled beef. But there are some unusual items such as the kimchi salad and Peking duck salad. More up our alley, however, is the pared-down $288 version with charcuterie, oysters and rocket salad, and free-flowing Veuve. 6/F, Marco Polo Hotel, Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, 2113-0222.

Brunch option number two: There is a new guest chef at La Mer presenting his Fruit de Mer menu this Sunday. Try his hot oysters with mushrooms, spinach and champagne sauce. A Marseillaise, Chef Rosso is no stranger to seafood: we’re willing to bet his hometown dish of bouillabaisse with croutons, aioli and saffron sauce is an authentic one. 1/F, 33 Wyndham St., Central, 2532-0200.

Chef Rosso may have worked in Michelin-starred restaurants, but he’s not the only one in town competing for your hard-earned dollars. Chef Didier Elena, from the two-starred Château Les Crayères in Reims, is cooking at Amber. There is a five-course lunch on Aug 22 ($988) consisting of langoustines, red mullet, pigeon and desserts. For the slightly greedier, there is a 10-course gastronomic dinner ($1,688) from Aug 20-22, which has the addition of foie gras, veal, oxtail and john dory. For the truly gluttonous, Chef Elena leaves with a bang: a 12-course gala dinner ($1,988) on the 23rd. 15 Queen’s Rd. Central, 2132-0066.

And now for something not healthy at all, but sinfully, indulgently decadent: Sabatini at the Royal Garden is doing a porcini and black truffle promotion until the end of the month using fungi from Italy. Chef Luca has a whole new menu featuring the pungent gems: we recommend the Sardinian lobster carpaccio with porcini, fennel and black truffle ($498) for a fun summery twist on the traditional beef carpaccio and for the main, try the surprisingly light risotto with porcini, scampi and truffle ($398). 3/F, The Royal Garden, 69 Mody Rd., Tsim Sha Tsui East, 2721-5215.
