February 5th, 2010Have your wicked way this Valentine’s Day with these little treats that’ll sweep her off her feet. By Sarah Fung
Va-Va Vintage
For something really special, head to Lane Crawford IFC on Feb 5 from 5pm-7pm for its first-ever vintage couture trunk show hosted by Juliana Cairone, founder of Rare Vintage in New York. You’ll be able to pick up gorgeous, rare outfits for that special someone.
If you can’t make the show, however, you’ll still be able to pick up a little something. To celebrate the event, thirteen jewelry designers, including Erikson Beamon, Vera Wang and Mawi (pictured), have created spectacular, vintage inspired, one-of-a-kind pieces just for the show.
Available at Lane Crawford, 3/F, IFC Mall, 8 Finance St., Central, 2118-3388
Burn, Baby
Generally speaking, giving a scented candle is pretty lame, but we’re willing to make an exception for this Crabtree & Evelyn offering. Once lit, this candle (don’t you just love the deep blue coral holder?) transports you to a remote tropical island, with essences of jasmine, green island palms and orange blossom nectar.
$495 from Crabtree & Evelyn, Shop 245, Pacific Place, Admiralty, 2523-8668
Chocolove
Valentine’s Day treats don’t get much prettier than this. Add a little sweetness to your life with this beautiful box o’ chocs from Jean-Paul Hevin. Colored a rich shade of red and dusted with gold, these are sweets that you won’t want to eat, though we strongly advise that you do. They’re delish.
$398 from Jean-Paul Hevin, 2045A, IFC Mall, 8 Finance St., Central, 2111-9770
Hell for Leather
We defy anyone not to fall in love with this handbag. The black leather bow offers just the right amount of grown-up girliness, while the clean, white base is perfect for making the transition from winter to spring.
$3,900 from Kate Spade, 2083, IFC Mall, 8 Finance St., Central, 3188-1928
Coming Up Roses
Yes, perfume’s a little obvious, but who wouldn’t be delighted about having this bottle of Chloe Intense taking pride of place on their dressing table? Its sumptuously rich rose bouquet is perfect for dabbing behind your ears for a lingering, memorable scent.
$895 from Harvey Nichols, The Landmark, 15 Queen’s Rd. Central, 3695-3388
The LBD with a Twist
It’s hard to go wrong with a pretty but quirky little black number like this, though we’re not sure what Freud would have to say about those ink spots.
$2,900 from Karen Millen, 56-58 Wellington St., Central, 2530-2092
A Right Heel
These flirty heels have just the right combination of utter impracticality and serious sex appeal. They’d look great with a black cocktail dress, or if
you’re really lucky, nothing at all.
$3,100 by Paco Gil at Harvey Nichols,The Landmark, 15 Queen’s Rd. Central, 3695-3388
Ring Around
So you’re totally smitten but not ready to talk betrothals just yet? Show your commitment (without that tell-tale diamond) with one of these edgy heart-shaped rings. She’ll know you mean business.
$1,850 (chunky); $850 (skinny) from Links of London, Shop 1003A, IFC Mall,
8 Finance St., Central, 2295-3328
Little Boy Blue
Recently jilted and feeling misanthropic? Pick up an “Ex-Factor” man-shaped bath bomb from Lush. The idea (as far as we can gather) is to watch the poor little guy dissolve away once you plunge him into your tub. If bathtime voodoo ain’t your thing, take comfort in the fact that it’s scented with vanilla and ylang ylang for ultimate blissing out. Men? Pah! Who needs ‘em?
$55 from Lush, Kiosk ADM 25, MTR Admiralty Station, Admiralty, 2520-2006
Heart’s a-Flutter
Beauty gifts are another dating minefield, but who could resist this beautiful set from quintessentially British brand Green & Spring? Embellished with etchings of wild British birds, this set would look stunning in any bathroom cabinet. It comes with a body lotion and shower gel set, plus a lip balm and a scented candle, all infused with natural oils such as lavender, marshmallow, rosemary, chamomile and geranium.
$1,150 from Harvey Nichols, The Landmark, 15 Queen’s Rd. Central, 3695-3388
