Wine Bar by Paul’s Kitchen

Wine Bar by Paul’s Kitchen

June 19th, 2009

The buzz: Newly opened, Paul Lee’s intimate wine bar is the new spot on Gough for tapas and a palate-pleasing wine list.

The décor: A charming and romantically lit interior with plush red banquettes complementing the fine wood finishing around the bar. The amorous air and cozy atmosphere make for an intimate dining space.

The drinks: Two wine lists: “Wine Lovers,” which is based on value and the “Connoisseur” for true devotees of the vine. A selection from countries such as Spain and Chile, there are 40 choices of the finest wines, constantly rotating so that the menu stays fresh. Try a robust Pinot Grigio or an elegant Chardonnay.

The food: Seductive, generously portioned tapas platters with thick cuts of salmon sprinkled with black pepper, and delectable goose liver pate on French bread.

The music: From hazy jazz to acoustic delights. What else?

The crowd: Friendly Gough Street diners and after-work lounge crowds.

Why you’ll be back: The express lunch menu and happy hour deals are to die for. The latter costs $100 for unlimited wine and for an extra, $60 you can get unlimited tapas. Ka-ching!
