Issue #758: Drop Out

Zaza

Zaza

September 5th, 2008

The buzz: Yet another fabulous nightlife alternative in Tsim Sha Tsui—a classy new retro-style club situated in Toy House.

The décor: Impenitent about their “Back to Canton” motif, it’s glitter and glam with bold touches of blatant luxury. Zaza’s an unapologetically updated version of those long-gone but beloved Tsim Sha Tsui discos of yesteryear. Occupying the whole third floor, it’s spacious enough for not one but two bars. The airy outdoor VIP seating area and green patio kicks ass too.

The drinks:
Here they don’t adhere to the TST tradition of a bottle of Black Label on reserve.  Zaza serves Blue (oooh) Label, uniquely aged Patrón Tequila and other premium spirits. Champagne’s available as well, of course.
The crowd: Harbour City shoppers for an alfresco happy hour, or food-lovers and Japanese expat cliques who just dined at one of the various restaurants in the Toy House building.

The music:
Ladies night on Thursday is usually R&B and hip-hop heavy, but most nights, the tunes morph into funky house in the later hours.

Why you’ll come back:
No more rushing back to Central for a post-dinner drink after a fine Japanese meal at Toy House. And did we mention the gorgeous restrooms with velvet walls? Johannes Pong
