Zen Lounge

Zen Lounge

August 22nd, 2008

The buzz: With a new casual dining concept and an extensive drink list, the Zen Lounge—part of The Sheraton’s Sky Lounge—is a must for mellow locals and tourists alike.

The décor: Get intimate at the lattice-partitioned seats, or sit to be seen at the tables on the elevated dais by the vertical Zen garden—It’s not quite Zen simplicity, more hotel opulence, but it’s still an epitome of cozy serenity. And the full harbor view of Hong Kong from the eighteenth floor is not to be missed.

The crowd: It’s a hotel bar, but forget about reservations and dress code. It’s just for people who want to chill with a view.

The food: Small plate dining, ideal to go with drinks. The crab cakes consist of chunks of crabmeat with a red pepper aioli, and are to die for. Share a plate of delicately sliced Iberian ham with your date, or a cute little bowl of creamy truffle risotto.

The drinks: It specializes in wines. Try a charming old world Italian or Bordeaux. Detoxing? Try their summer mocktails like their Melon Medley, a refreshing juice of melon, orange and lemon. Alternatively, you could go for a comforting demitasse of oyster chowder.

Why you’ll return:
Oysters, a cool Californian Chardonnay with the setting sun and the gradual sparkling up of Hong Kong skyline during happy hour. Hello? Johannes Pong
