While at Kee Club, I chanced upon an old friend who has sort of retired from partying. He graciously offered to buy me a beverage, and not wanting to drink more Veuve, I opted for an Amaretto Sour. Grazie. The old friend confessed candidly that when he reads my column these days, he doesn’t know who the characters I’m referring to are when I bitch-please them.

So I was going to Zuma to try out their new fuyu (that’s “winter” in Japanese) cocktails. Entered the elevator with some random business-types who had pressed the button to go directly to the upstairs bar.

Halloween procrastination meant last-minute panic shopping on Thursday and Friday. I had originally planned to get an elaborate Gothic Lolita dress made in Mong Kok, all intricate lace and ribbons in merlot and ebony, maybe a dead mammal thrown casually over my shoulder, but there was no time with all the furniture-finding last month (see HKstylebook!).
