Cantina Cecconi’s
Simply decorated with an open counter at the back, Cecconi’s gives off a casual and inviting vibe, a good spot for long dinners with friends. Our superb starters were encouraging; the roasted figs with goat cheese could have done with a few more bits of crispy pancetta for texture but that’s just the preference of a pork-lover. The mains, however, were a tad disappointing. The chicken was juicy, but the mushroom lasagna that accompanied it was tepid. The swordfish, recommended by our server, tasted like frozen fish barely warmed up; we had to send it back. But the disappointment caused was more than made up for by the way the restaurant handled the problem. Within minutes, the manager presented us his apologies, an extra glass of wine, and a delicious, fork-tender braised rabbit. In the end, the fish—which could have ruined the entire meal—barely cast a shadow on our experience and we left the restaurant satisfied enough to save its number permanently on our phones.
